2 Weeks To Go – The Crick Boat Show

The Crick Boat Show is back and it looks like it is going to be a fun-filled weekend for all the family and we are delighted to be taking part again this year.

The Crick Boat Show is Britain’s biggest inland waterways event and takes place from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th June at the Crick Marina in Northamptonshire. It’s expected to attract over 25.000 visitors over this weekend, which is being held on the bank holiday weekend that celebrates the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

We’ll be on stand WW64 in the Boating Marquee so please do come along and say hello to our award-winning insurance team. We’ll be happy to provide you with any information about insurance for narrowboats, canal and inland waterways boats as well as widebeams or livaboards. We’ll also be giving away pens, pads, keyrings and eco-friendly shopping bags

Celebrating all things boating

As usual there will be plenty of interesting boats on show. The marina will play host to some beautiful historic narrowboats as well as some brand-new boats and many in between. Boat builders and fitters, along with brokers will be displaying narrowboats, widebeams and livaboards. There will also be everything you need to keep your narrowboat ship-shape and to keep you and your family safe and comfortable on the water. The show village has a wealth of shopping opportunities outside in the open air. There’s also a food and craft marquee where you’ll find gourmet foods to try and product demonstrations to watch.

Visitors can take free boat trips out into the water which run every 10 minutes each day after 10am with each trip taking around 30 minutes. This is a very popular attraction so if you do want to take a free trip it’s advised to book as soon as you arrive at the show.

There will be boat handling taster courses for those of you who may be a little nervous about navigating the waterways. The courses provide a really good way to build your own confidence, giving you a real feel of what may be involved and is also available to people who would simply like to refresh their skills.

If seminars are your thing, there are boat ownership seminars which cover a broad ranges of topics such as buying a new or second hand boat, through to maintaining your boat and it’s engine.

Once again, The Canal & River Trust will be welcoming visitors to their dedicated marquee. You’ll find plenty of experts providing advice and information relating to all aspects of boating on our rivers and canals. There will be anything from boat licensing to the wildlife you might see when you’re cruising the waterways in your narrowboat.

Entertainment at the Boat Show

No boat show is complete without a beer tent! Crick’s local pub, The Wheatsheaf, will be running the beer tent again this year and musical entertainment will be provided by well-known Crick entertainer, Derek Meyer. The blues/acoustic guitarist will be playing on all three evenings at the show.

The Crick Boat Show is open from 10am – 6pm on Friday & Saturday and Sunday 10am – 5pm
